WHERE GEORGIA COMES TO THE TABLE.

Authentic cuisine, rare amphora wines and rotating Georgian art — on the Vlasmarkt, Antwerp.

J’ami

J'ami is not an ordinary restaurant. It is a Georgian gastro bar in the heart of Antwerp where wine, food and art come together in one story. Housed in the historic 'De Kleine Klok' building on the Vlasmarkt, J'ami brings the richest culinary traditions of Georgia to the centre of Antwerp's historic old town. With the precision of a top chef and the warmth of a family table.

The same Georgian wines we offer on our platform are poured here in the glass. Alongside the food they were made for.

The Kitchen

Sitting down at J'ami, you quickly realise the menu is not trying to explain itself to you. There are no lengthy descriptions engineered to justify a price point, no dishes built around a single photogenic moment. What comes to the table is food that has been thought about seriously — and then left to speak.

Chef Davit Narimanishvili trained in the Basque Country and worked in Madrid before bringing that rigour back to the Georgian kitchen. The result is a menu where classic dishes — braised meats, walnut sauces, filled doughs, fermented cheeses — are executed with a precision that makes them feel both entirely familiar and genuinely revelatory. The kind of food that makes you want to order the same thing twice and something new at the same time.

The story

Georgia has been making wine for 8,000 years. Its cuisine has been shaped by centuries of trade routes, mountain villages and a deeply rooted belief that food and wine are never separate things. J'ami exists to bring that world to Antwerp — not as a concept, but as a lived experience.

The restaurant opened at the end of 2024 on the Vlasmarkt, inside the historic 'De Kleine Klok' building. It was founded by three Georgian women who shared one conviction: that Georgian cuisine deserves a serious platform in Belgium. None of them came from hospitality. All of them came from a culture where feeding people is simply what you do.

Georgian top chef Davit Narimanishvili — with experience in the Basque Country and the Madrid gastronomy scene — joined as menu developer, bringing structure and precision to a kitchen already rich in soul. The result was noticed quickly. Gault&Millau awarded J'ami 12.5/20 within its first year — a rare recognition for a restaurant still finding its stride.

Art & Atmosphere

J'ami is more than a restaurant. The walls are given over to Georgian artists and makers whose work rotates with the seasons and shifts alongside the menu. No permanent collection, no fixed aesthetic. Just art that keeps the space alive and gives every visit a different texture.

It is a natural extension of what J'ami already does at the table. Georgia has always produced its culture in parallel — wine, food, music and art as expressions of the same thing. Here, that instinct finds a physical home. The building itself — the historic 'De Kleine Klok' on the Vlasmarkt — carries its own weight and its own stories, absorbed into the atmosphere rather than placed on display.

The result is a space that doesn't feel designed so much as inhabited. Come once and you'll notice the art. Come again and something will have changed.

Wine & Food

The Georgian wines you order on our platform are the same wines poured in the glass at J'ami. That is not a coincidence — it is exactly the point.

J'ami works with an extensive selection of Georgian wines, including amphora wines that are almost impossible to find elsewhere in Belgium. The wine list is curated with knowledge and genuine passion, and the team is happy to talk you through it. Not as a sales script, but because they believe in every bottle.

Wine and food have never been thought of separately in Georgia. A glass of Saperavi with lamb, an amber Rkatsiteli alongside a plate of walnuts and herbs — these are combinations that have been refined over thousands of years. At J'ami, you experience that at its very best.

The staff was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and took the time to explain the traditional dishes and unique wines to us. A solid 5 stars for both the food and hospitality."

  • "An absolute hidden gem in Antwerp! We tried the 3-course shared dining menu and were completely blown away. The traditional Khachapuri (cheese bread) was outstanding, and the Kharcho beef in walnut sauce was incredibly rich and flavorful. It’s the perfect way to get introduced to real Georgian food. We will definitely be coming back."
