Marbano Mtsvane
Behind every great wine pioneer, there is often another story waiting to be told. Marina Bitarishvili spent years contributing quietly beside her husband Iago Bitarishvili — the legendary natural wine pioneer who single-handedly sparked Georgia's Qvevri revival. Now, with Marbano, Marina has stepped into her own light. Working with organically grown Mtsvane in the ancient wine country of Kartli, she crafts small, deeply personal batches that carry the full weight of Georgian heritage and the quiet confidence of a winemaker who has spent a lifetime learning from the best. This 2023 Mtsvane is the result — textural, luminous and irresistibly alive.
Grape Variety 100% Mtsvane — a celebrated indigenous Georgian white grape from the Kartli region, grown organically and farmed using natural practices that honour both the vine and the land it grows in. Fermented spontaneously in terracotta Qvevri buried underground, with full skin contact and malolactic fermentation in vessel — nothing added, nothing removed.
Taste Profile Vibrant amber in the glass, with lifted and expressive aromas of dried citrus peel, apricot skin, wild herbs and gentle tea-like florals. On the palate the wine is textural yet refined — medium-bodied and beautifully structured, with notes of quince, orange oil, chamomile and subtle spice from extended skin contact. The tannins are delicately woven, offering presence without heaviness, while bright natural acidity keeps everything vibrant and clean through a long, softly earthy finish.
Craftsmanship Farmed organically and crafted with complete natural conviction — no fining, no filtration, no added sulphur. The grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in terracotta Qvevri buried in the earth, with full skin contact and malolactic fermentation in vessel. Every vintage is a small, heartfelt batch rooted in family heritage, living Georgian winemaking culture and Marina Bitarishvili's deeply intuitive, hands-on approach to her craft.
Serving Suggestions Best served at 12–14°C in a white wine or universal stem to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and Qvevri texture. A magnificent companion to roasted poultry, grilled trout, saffron rice, herb-forward vegetarian dishes and soft-ripened cheeses. Its gentle tannins and citrus-driven freshness also make it a standout pairing for Middle Eastern mezze and Georgian Mtsvadi. Alcohol: 12.5% — 750ml.
